The Directorate of Research and Graduate Training in collaboration with the School of School of Social Sciences, announces the PhD-Cross-cutting Training Courses:
1. ADVANCED QUALITATIVE DATA ANALYSIS

CALL FOR APPLICATIONS
• Course Duration: 28th January to 8th February, 2019

• Who should apply: PhD Students Maximum Number of Participants: 30

This course unit is among the required crosscutting courses for PhD students to be knowledgeable in the philosophical underpinnings of qualitative research; have acquired skills of literature search, critical analysis and writing; be able to identify would-be qualitative research problems; be able to call into use of appropriate qualitative research methods of investigating the identified problem(s); appreciate analysis of qualitative data (manually and by use of computer software) and able to explore various ways of writing a qualitative research report.

This course units are among the required crosscutting courses for PhD students to expand their academic and practical comprehension of the concepts of science, knowledge and research; acquaint the students with the philosophical principles behind the quantitative and qualitative methods of research; enhance the students’ awareness about ethical conflicts in relation to research; and provide a forum for each student to discuss, and improve their own research proposals.

Applicants should submit their applications with evidence of provisional admission to the PhD Program. Priority shall be given to those at research proposal development stage.
