The AAP Annual Consortium Meeting brought together participants from 10 countries including (not in any specific order); United States of America, South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria, Uganda, Malawi, Botswana, Tanzania, Mali and Senegal.
Meeting activities ran from 8 – 11, September, 2024, largely took place at Makerere University with a few activities running outside the university to further engage with diverse multi-disciplinary partners.
On Sunday September 8, 2024, the meeting delegates were welcomed by Prof. Henry Arinaitwe, Ag. Deputy Vice Chancellor in Charge of Finance and Administration at Makerere University. Prof. Arinaitwe was representing Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe, Makerere University’s Vice Chancellor.
Prof. Arinaitwe who was flanked by several other top management team members welcomed all delegates to Uganda – the Pearl of Africa. He said ‘Makerere University is one of the best and oldest universities in the African content’. he added that Makerere continues to thrive because of strong partnerships across the globe. He pointed out that the delegates should enjoy Uganda’s nature, beautiful weather and tourism among other things.
Prof. Steven Hanson, Vice Provost and Dean International Studies and Programs at Michigan State University thanked Makerere University’s Vice Chancellor for hosting the AAP Annual Meeting. He noted that he and his colleagues and friends were looking forward to a rich knowledge generation and sharing opportunity during and post the meeting.
These delegates then joined in the Uganda Ndere Troupe Cultural Show as a welcome to the Pearl of Africa.
