CAPREx: Cambridge-Africa Partnership for Research ExcellenceThe overall aim of CAPREx (Cambridge-Africa Partnership for Research Excellence) is to strengthen Africa's capacity for sustainable excellence in research, through close collaborative work with the region's most talented individuals.

CAPREx will therefore equip African academics with the skills, resources, networks and vision to become internationally competitive and successful researchers and research managers/administrators.

 

NGAA - Next Generation of African Academics

NGAA - Next Generation of African Academics NGAA (Next Generation of Africa Academics) exists to provide a platform to showcase the activities and achievements of the four participating universities: Makerere University (Uganda, Eastern Africa), University of Ghana Legon (Ghana in west Africa), University of Capetown and University of Wittswatersrand both in South Africa).

The objectives of this initiative are to provide high quality graduate training and to retain next generation academic; the sharing of training resources across universities as scholarly and scientific communities that enhance development and retention of next generation academics; and the fellowship programs that fast-track career development of next generation academics and build communities of these fellows and mentors to reduce isolation and provide a nurturing environment staff next generation of academics and university leaders in Africa.

The webportal is hosted at Makerere University and supported by the Carnegie Corporation of New York.

Sida: Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency

The Makerere University Research Capacity Building Program assists Uganda in its efforts to promote research for attainment of new knowledge. In support of an environment conducive for research and training, the program coined the slogan "To support the supervisor to supervise" through collaboration with universities and scientists in Sweden or elsewhere.

The Research support program is coordinated by the Directorate of Research and Graduate Training (DRGT). In addition to the DRGT, other units at Makerere university that are collaborating on this program..
